GM's 2014 Cadillac ELR will feature paddle-shifted regenerative braking
Ten years ago, paddle-shifters on the steering wheel in front of you meant you were likely sitting in a high-performance sports car. Since then paddle shifters have also become synonymous with semi-automatic gearboxes in frugal city cars like the Smart ForTwo. But now automakers are starting to use them for something altogether different: controlling regenerative braking in electric cars.
