BP fuel future london olympicsBMW may have dibs on being the "Official Automotive Partner to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games," but that doesn't mean there aren't other automotive-related promotional opportunities to be had at the games. Exhibit A: BP's new "Wayne Helix" fuel dispenser.



Sounding like something from a green-energy Batcave, the dispenser is designed to give press release writers something to say. Specifically, the pump's "emphasis on design and advanced technology convey evolution of the fuelling experience." Wow, that sounds delightful. Oh, and then this, "BP challenged Wayne to design and build a fuel dispenser that could showcase BP's future product aspirations from both a fuelling and payment perspective." But it's still just a fuel pump, right?



It is, and will be the featured dispenser for BP's London 2012 biofuels showcase. BP doesn't come out and say what the Wayne Helix can do, just that, "The station of the future will likely see increasing levels of bio components blended into conventional fossil fuels such as petrol and diesel. As such, fuel suppliers will need dispensers that have been tested and certified to handle the rigour and demands of a wide range of biofuel blends and that also are safe, secure and easy to operate."
