Porsche’s 918 Super-Hybrid Caught Testing (spy pics)

Porsche’s 918 Super-Hybrid Caught Testing (spy pics): Porsche’s 918 hybrid supercar is real, and here’s proof: amateur “spy photos” taken at the Nardo high-speed test track in southern Italy. According to onlookers, the 918 prototype “looked like a mobile laboratory, with chopped up 911 bodyparts and fat bundles of wires.” Sounds good to me! Two years ago, Porsche showed the 78+ mpg, 200 mph 918 hybrid supercar to a world that believed hybrid = slow. Boring. Since then, Porsche has been at the forefront of changing that idea, with hybrid 911 GT3 R racecars winning against tough, international competition and prototype 997s caught testing in the real world. With any luck, the million-dollar 918 will cement the “hybrid = super awesome” in the minds of the cousin-marrying few remaining non-believers still out there. We’ll see! As a car, Porsche claims its upcoming 918 will be capable of blistering the tarmac around the legendary Nurburgring in under 7:30 – with a scintillating soundtrack that certainly won’t be lost on the P-car’s passengers: check out the exhaust placed right. Behind. The seats. Bitchin’. The first batch of 918s is scheduled to hit Porsche dealers (and deafen hundreds of well-heeled Porsche buyers!) next November. Check out what they’ll be getting, below. 918_main 918_1 918_2 918_3 Source | Photos: Wildspeed.
